It’s time to vote!

So in case you haven’t noticed, dear reader, your humble servant lives in Canada. As such, we are having provincial elections, and I’m voting.

That’s right. I, Mr. #nofutureinpolitics is voting. Why? Because f#ck politics!

Yes, there is no future in politics, but you must understand something…and this is not unique to Canadian politics, this might just be damn universal.

This is the time when you actually have a choice. It’s a choice between no future, or the unimaginable.

If I wanted Canada to become the next United State, I’d say no to my vote, or I’d vote conservative, because either one of those choices will make the end of a civilized era an inevitability.

Positive/progressive change may only come from the people, but I’d rather have a government that is appallingly ineffective and inefficient at getting any work done than a government that is almost fanatically, revolutionarily hell-bent on undoing all of the good that former generations have done to make current society as awesome as it is from a historical perspective.

It doesn’t matter what the Liberals or the NDP will try to do. It also doesn’t matter how honest or dishonest they are. With either of them in government, the people can at least continue to build upon past progress. We haven’t been able to do that in a very long time in Canada and the mistake was made when we took politics too seriously. We let it polarize us into voting a Conservative majority government in a first-past-the-post electoral system because the Liberals decided to be corrupt at the wrong time and the New Democratic Party were just being good ol’ fashioned fighters, rocking their platform honestly and proudly with the great late Jack Layton at the steering wheel winning their first major opposition.

There was a time when I was happy that Canadian politics were becoming more polarized…I used to say “Thank God, Canadians are finally growing some balls and daring to have a political opinion!” Sure, they now actually have a position on social and economic and political subjects. This is good, because someone should damn well get pissed off when we still let certain cultures make women wear bodybags.

The price for that, however, shouldn’t be a f#cking wannabe Reagan as Prime Minister or a crack-smoking f#ck as mayor of my city!

Much love,
Zen Politics
